Dollar Tree Tabletop Cross

dollar tree table top cross

Time is going by so fast and Easter will be here before we know it! I found these white bead trim wood crosses at the Dollar Tree and as soon as I saw them, I knew what I wanted to do with them. The cross would be beautiful to leave out all year. If you have made the Dollar Tree angel using a loved one’s clothing, this cross would also be beautiful if you added matching clothing in the center.

Materials I Used

  • 2 White beaded cross wall decor
  • 2.5″ Wood Candle stick or whatever size you would like
  • Lace fabric or fabric of choice
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Iron and parchment paper if using scrapbook paper
  • Mod Podge
  • Gorilla clear grip adhesive
  • Clamps
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush or foam brush
  • Antique Gold Rub and buff and stiff brush
  • Cloth for polishing the candlestick

Adding Fabric to cross

First remove the hangers from both crosses. Take one cross, add Mod Podge to the back of it, and lay lace fabric onto the cross.

Next add a generous amount of mod podge onto the lace working the mod podge into the lace. After applying the mod podge lift up a section of the lace and use scissors to trim off excess lace so it sits just inside the edge of the cross. Continue working your way all around the cross.

If you use a solid fabric instead of lace, repeat these steps for the second cross so the print appears on both sides.

Adding Scrapbook Paper

Place one cross onto the backside of the scrapbook paper, trace it and cut the cross out just inside of the trace line. You will need two crosses cut from scrapbook paper

Apply mod podge to the back of each cross; let it dry. Next lay the paper cross with the print facing down onto one cross, cover it with a piece of parchment paper and iron. Repeat these steps for the second cross.

Attaching The Two Crosses

Apply gorilla clear grip adhesive around the back of one cross then place the second cross on top and clamp them together. Let set for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Attach To Candlestick

At first I left the candlestick natural wood but then I decided I wanted it gold, so I used a stiff brush and rub and buff in the antique gold color onto the wooden candlestick. Using a stiff brush apply the rub and buff over the entire candlestick, then take a clean cloth and buff the candlestick.
Apply gorilla clear grip adhesive to the top  of the candlestick then center the cross onto the candlestick. Let it set for about 15 or 20 minutes before moving.
Your cross is now complete. I hope you give this cross a try and make it your own!
