DIY Wilton Baking Cup Flower

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I just love Spring, the weather is getting warmer, the birds are singing and all the plants are starting to bud. While I was shopping in Walmart looking at the Easter things I came across these Wilton flower baking cups as soon as I seen them making flowers popped into my head.I am not crazy about using paper to make flowers but these are kind of like a plastic more then paper so I had to give them a try.Walmart only carries these baking cups for Easter but you can also get them at Joann’s they carry them all year.I found colored ponytail holders at the Dollar Tree you get three for a dollar and I knew they would be perfect for the center of the flowers. If you keep a tree up all year long you are going to love having these on your tree. You can also add a dowel to the back of them to use in a floral arrangement.

Supplies You Will Need:

  • Wilton Baking Cups (Flower Shaped)
  • Ponytail Holders (Dollar Tree)
  • Needle)
  • Fishing Line
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Preparing the Baking Cup

Take one baking cup cut down between two petals stopping at the center of the cup.  Count four petals over from your cut and cut between the two petals.  You are going to be removing these four petals.  Next cut the four petals from the center of the cup.  Make cut across through the center of the cup.  Overlap the two pieces of the center of the cup.  Add a line of hot glue down the side of one of the petals then glue the two end petals together.

Turn the flower over snip of the little extra piece that is over hanging from the middle (see photo below).  Add hot glue under the center piece and glue the two bottom center pieces together.

Creating the Flower

Take a second baking cup add hot glue in the center of the cup then glue in the second cup you just prepared, centering the petals between the petals of the bottom cup.  Add hot glue to the center of the flower and glue in a ponytail holder.

Adding the Hanger

Thread a needle with a piece of fishing line.  Thread the needle through one of the petals of the bottom part of the flower.  Tie the fishing line ends in a double knot.  You know have a hanger for your flower.

I hope you enjoyed making the flowers.  If you would like other flowers for your tree check out my blog on my Petal baking cup flower.  Happy Spring!!
