Summer weather is finally here which put me in the mood to make these fabric flower bowl fillers. It took me three tries before I got the pattern right! You can also easily add a ribbon hanger and use them on a tree or make a garland. Another idea is to make more flowers, insert a dowel into each flower, and wrap the dowel with floral tape while adding some homemade leaves.
MATERIALS I Used
- Flower Pattern
- Fabrics of your choice
- Sewing Machine and matching threads
- Sewing needle and matching threads
- Polyester Fiberfill
- 1″ buttons, two buttons for each flower
- 20mm beads, two beads for each flower, Hobby Lobby #2581379
- Fabric marking pen
- Scissors
Step 1
Print and cut out the flower pattern. Place the pattern onto a double layer of fabric, with the right sides facing inward. Trace the flower pattern onto the fabric.

Using a sewing machine sew the flower all the way around on the trace line. Cut out the flower about a 1/4″ from the sewn line.

Using scissors make small snips all the way around the flower making sure you don’t cut your stitches. This will help keep the fabric from puckering when you turn the flower right side out. Next seperate the two pieces of fabric in the center of the flower then make a small cut. Make the opening a little larger.

Step 2
Turn it right side out then stuff the flower with polyester fiberfill.

Using a sewing needle and matching thread, sew the opening closed.

Use a sewing needle and matching thread for the buttons or beads you will be using. Place one button in the center of the front and back of the flower and sew the two buttons on simultaneously. When sewing on bottoms or beads, squeeze them together after each stitch and pull the thread tight. This will help indent them into the flower.

After sewing on the buttons or beads bring the needle to the back side of the flower as close to the bead or button as possible, tie a knot, and then cut off the excess thread.

I hope you give these fabric flower bowl fillers a try! I would love to here from you if you make them into a garland or add a stem to them.
